Yakker is a participating startup in Batch #1 of The Accelerator, creating work chat without limits
An interview with Ben Sze, Founder of Yakker
The startups in Batch #1 of The Accelerator are driven by a passion for solving major pain points experienced by Canadians and are hustling hard to bring their ideas to life. Do you have an overcrowded inbox with a bad case of TMI (too much information!), making it nearly impossible for you to actually get stuff done? If you answered yes, you’re going to want to pay attention to Yakker.
What problem does Yakker solve?
We started Yakker because we felt the current way people were communicating within the workplace was inefficient and not conducive to getting work done.
We are targeting the email generation otherwise known as the generation who hits “reply-all”, “forward” and “send” at every opportunity without questioning whether it is adding value or improving anyone’s productivity, including their own.
How does Yakker solve that problem?
We are bringing the core value of communication back to getting work done. Yakker is a communication platform that changes the way you communicate internally to refine the quality, while reducing the quantity of messages being sent and received. We wanted to create one platform that could extend beyond just your team, so that you could converse in an efficient manner with your group, office, clients and beyond.
We’re different from email and other chat tools because things don’t come in a stack flow. We are focused on allowing you to engage on where you are needed most by allowing you to pull threads and reply to specific messages. Talking with your team about a specific project file? You can associate conversations with those documents to ensure you have all of the information you need in one place.
How has your experience been at The Accelerator?
Awesome! Everything we have done so far has been extremely relevant to the stage we are at. The Accelerator’s team has been a great resource and they are always available to chat. They’re personal experience in other accelerator programs has shaped the program and made us feel like they really understand what we need.
